The site on which Acarsaid is built was bought in the early 1950s by William and Jenny Ross who retIred to Argyll, building the house and lovingly creating the gardens themselves.
The house has been in the same family for 3 generations, passing to their niece, Pam MacLean, on Jenny's death in 1970.
During Pam's lifetime many improvements were made to the house, including the creation of the large sunny dining kitchen, french doors to new decking with commanding views of the garden and lochside. The deck and the garden are both suntraps and beautifully sheltered even on windy days.
When Pam died in 2012 the house passed to the next generation and is now owned by her daughter, Cat MacLean.
Acarsaid has remained a home from home for the MacLean family and this is reflected in the personal pieces in the house.
The family's ethos has always been a desire to share the joy of Acarsaid with other family and friends, and the house has been rented for many years on this basis. If you are looking for 5 star luxury, this house is not for you - it is a well loved family home with all that that brings.
The house is not formally serviced, and we ask that visitors leave it as clean and tidy as possible for the next people coming in (a local cleaning service can be booked should you require it). There is no linen provided (but duvets and pillows on all the beds) and we ask you to bring your own sheets, duvet covers, pillow cases and towels.
Cat is keen to ensure that the house continues to be enjoyed by family and friends, and the rental rates, fixed well below commercial rates, reflect this.
