Argyll is not famed for long golden beaches but there is a small sandy beach on the Ardfern peninsula between the village and the churchyard. Beautifully secluded, off the beaten track, with wonderfully clear water and gently shelving and seaweed free sand, this is a bit of a hidden gem and has afforded many happy days swimming, paddling and BBQing.
There is also a slightly better known sandy beach a short drive away at Crinan Ferry which has beautiful views across to Crinan, Mull and Jura.
